Robotics Achievements at the Asia Pacific Robotics Championships

Robotics Achievements at the Asia Pacific Robotics Championships

At the recently concluded Asia Pacific Robotics Championships, we were very proud to place Australian teams on the map for robotics. Not only did Australia have representation at the Asia Pacific Robotics Championships, but we are estatic to announce the following Australian team winners:

Team 7479 of Hillcrest Christian College won the Judges’ Award – Vex Robotics Competition

Team 10629A won the Inspire Award – Vex IQ Robotics Competition

Our very newly formed team who took part in the Brain Development System Championships won the Invent Award!

What a great conclusion to the year. It is our dream to have Australian teams participate in Asia Pacific and World Championships. We’ve done it in 2014, 2015 and will be doing it in 2016 – Vex Robotics World Championships, here we come!

A year of robotics, coding, electronics, STEM and STEAM

A year of robotics, coding, electronics, STEM and STEAM

We, Team Innovate, would like to thank all our students, parents, primary and high schools under our programs and supporters for such an incredible year.

We’ve had 4 seasons of tech camps, weekly after school programs every term, launched Maker Days for kids, become the Official littleBits Melbourne Chapter, run 2 Vex IQ qualifier events, a Robo I Gather Challenge, a Vex Robotics Qualifier and finally the international Asia Pacific Robotics Championships and lots of scrimmages and other events in between.
All in all, we have now seen thousands of kids come into contact with STEM through our programs and events since we first started.

We congratulate our Australian teams for their great performance at the recent Asia Pacific Robotics Championships. Team 7479 of Hillcrest Christian College won the Judges’ Award, Team 10629A won the Inspire Award and our very newly formed team who took part in the Brain Development System Championships won the Invent Award! A great feat to win something at the Asia Pacific level since Australia has never participated at that level. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone for your support, encouraging words and for volunteering at our events. Another fantastic year has gone by and we look forward to meeting even more kids through our programs in 2016.

Till then, have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year 2016!

Sincerely,

Team Innovate

Asia Pacific Robotics Championships at Melbourne Showgrounds

Asia Pacific Robotics Championships at Melbourne Showgrounds

Just over the last week, we welcomed more than 200 robotics teams from countries in the Asia Pacific who flew into Melbourne for the Asia Pacific Robotics Championships at the Melbourne Showgrounds. It was truly an amazing experience to see more than 200 robots!

The first day saw teams check in, have their robots inspected and attempt their Robot Skills Challenge. On the second day, teams and event staff were busy with many rounds of qualifying games for Vex, Vex IQ, Humanoid and BDS systems challenges. Balls were flying everywhere and nets were filled to the brim in the exciting games.

The third day saw the semi-finals and finals for all the four competitions and winners were declared. Yes, the best of the best. An enjoyable 3 days of cultural exchanges between participating teams. Gifts were exchanged between teams and lots of photos were taken.

It was amazing to see many children involved in STEM, something which is still growing in Australia. It is our dream to see more children get involved in STEM related subjects over the next few years. Perhaps, this is a good start to many more to come!

Vex IQ Bankshot Qualifier Competition

The Vex IQ 2015 – 2016 Bankshot Qualifier was held yesterday at Forest Hill College. Middle school teams competed in the Vex IQ game, Bankshot.

It was truly a fun-filled and action packed day as we finished 30 rounds of qualifying games and another several rounds of robot skills.

We would like to congratulate teams who won the following:

Excellence Award – Team 10629E of Mount View Primary School (This team qualifies to represent Australia at the Vex Robotics World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky in April 2016!)

Tournament Champions – Team 10629E and Team 10629B

Robot Skills Champion – Team 10629F

We are excited to be preparing our team for the world championships in 2016! Go Innovate Academy!

Inaugural Vex IQ Robotics Australian National Championships

On Friday 20 March 2015, the inaugural Vex IQ Australian National Championships was held at The Peninsula School. Teams got together to play the Highrise Challenge game (2014-2015 Season).

The day came together nicely as teams displayed graciousness, teamwork, problem solving skills and great project work. Teams put in much effort into their projects and impressed judges with their resilience at the Vex IQ Robotics Championships.

All teams deserve praise for their achievements. It was truly a day of celebration and another win for STEM education in Australia.

Well done everyone. A big thank you goes to The Peninsula School for hosting this championship – it was awesome!

Go STEM!
