Program Description
The Creative Coding & Game Systems Academy is a structured, term-based after-school program where students develop logical thinking, creativity, and confidence by building interactive programs and simple game systems.
Through guided, project-based learning, students learn how to break problems down, design solutions, and refine their ideas — developing skills that extend beyond games into real-world problem solving.
Artificial intelligence concepts are introduced through game behaviours and rule-based systems, such as creating non-player character actions, decision trees, and adaptive responses within games. Students learn how intelligent behaviour can be designed using logic and conditions, building an intuitive understanding of AI through creative coding rather than abstract theory.
Minecraft Education is used as one of the learning environments within the program, providing a visual and engaging platform where students apply coding concepts, logic, and systems thinking to complete structured challenges and build functional game systems. The focus is on purposeful creation and problem solving, not gameplay.
What Students Learn
Students learn how to think computationally while creating interactive projects that are engaging, meaningful, and purposeful.
Computational Thinking & Logic

Â
Curriculum & Learning Focus
Core Learning Areas
Students explore foundational coding concepts including sequencing, logic, variables, and events through creative projects.
Extended Learning Areas (introduced progressively)
As students progress, projects may include:
Game mechanics and rule systems
Interactive storytelling
Introduction to text-based coding concepts
New projects and challenges are introduced each term to support ongoing growth.
Program Format & Commitment
The Creative Coding & Game Systems Academy is a term-based after-school program designed for sustained skill development, not short workshops or holiday camps.
While students may join at the beginning of any term, a multi-term commitment is recommended to support confidence, continuity, and progression.
Who This Program Is For
The Creative Coding & Game Systems Academy is suitable for students who enjoy creativity, games, and technology, and want to develop confidence in coding and problem-solving.
No prior coding experience is required — curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to learn are all that’s needed.
Learning Environment & Expectations
We foster a supportive and respectful learning environment where students are encouraged to collaborate, experiment, and learn through trial and improvement.
To ensure a positive experience for all participants, students are expected to engage respectfully with peers and instructors and follow guidance during sessions.
Additional Coding Resource Fee (Innovate Forge Digital Infrastructure & learning ecosystem )
A $20 per term Innovate Forge Digital Infrastructure & learning ecosystem applies, providing students with secure access to our proprietary learning ecosystem — including structured coding pathways, robotics reflection journals, assessment frameworks, certification tracking, project portfolio archiving, and AI-supported practice environments designed for long-term mastery and academic excellence.
Entry Points
New students are welcome to join at the beginning of any term. Each term introduces new projects and challenges, allowing students to enter the program without disadvantage while still progressing within the broader learning pathway.
Learning Support
If your child has additional learning needs, we encourage families to contact Innovate Academy prior to enrolment. This allows us to understand how best to support your child within our small-group learning environment.
NDIS Invoicing
Innovate Academy can provide invoices and receipts for self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants.
After enrolment, please email us your NDIS plan type so we can ensure invoices include the required information. Our aim is to keep the process clear and straightforward, allowing families to focus on their child’s learning and growth.
BYOD or Hire a Device
This program operates on a BYOD basis, with students required to bring their own laptop, or they may choose to hire a device if needed.
