Robotics & Coding Programs
Semester 1 Student Report
$25 per student (optional and in addition to the course fee. Available for all modules.

COMPUTER SCIENCE ACADEMY (Grade 3 to 6)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
- Future-Ready Skills: Coding prepares students for jobs that exist today—and those yet to be created. A background in computer science opens doors to countless opportunities.
- Critical & Computational Thinking: Through coding, students develop logical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and computational thinking—skills vital for academic and life success.
- Digital Literacy: Students gain practical experience with programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, boosting their understanding of how computers and the internet work.
- Soft Skill Development: Coding projects foster resilience, teamwork, effective communication, and creativity as students work together to overcome challenges.
- Confidence & Creativity: Building real websites and programs gives students a sense of achievement and encourages creative exploration.
- Productive Technology Use: Students learn to use computers as powerful tools for learning, creation, and innovation.
- Preparation for the Future: Coding skills support success in secondary education, future projects, and the evolving job market.
- No prior experience in robotics, coding, or technology is required.
- Students should be able to attend classes diligently and work independently.
- It is essential that students can follow the structured curriculum and participate in all classroom activities.
- We ask that students maintain positive behaviour to ensure a productive learning environment for everyone.
- This program is open only to students in Year 3 to Year 6.
- Each student must bring their own device to class every week—either a Windows laptop or an Apple iPad.
- Please note: ITRA is unable to provide spare devices if a student forgets to bring theirs, and missed lessons cannot be made up with a replacement device.
Term 4 Details:
*Start Date: Tuesday, 7 October 2025 | End Date: Tuesday, 9 December 2025 | Duration: 8 Weeks
*Schedule Note for T4: NO Sessions on Tuesday 4 November (Public holiday) & Tuesday 25 November 2025 (Professional Dev week)
Session time: Tuesdays, 3.45pm to 5.15pm | Venue: Mount View Primary Senior Learning Centre (Grade 6 area, 2nd level)
Cost: $350 per term, per child (See fee schedule on page above)
Additional Coding Resource Fee: This fee provides access to a coding platform similar to Trinket along with associated learning systems. The license fee is $20 per term.

COMPUTER SCIENCE & GAME DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (Grade 1 to 6)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
- Learning Through Creation: By making games, students don’t just play—they learn vital coding concepts, strengthen computational and logical thinking, and develop critical problem-solving abilities.
- Engaging Tools: Using Minecraft Education’s digital curriculum, students explore, experiment, and grow their digital literacy—all while having fun.
- Skill Development for the Future: Game development fosters tech-savvy, creative thinkers who are ready for the demands of secondary education and the modern workforce.
- Soft Skills for Success: Collaboration, communication, and resilience are built into every project, helping students prepare for future study and work.
- Enhanced logical, computational, and critical thinking skills
- Improved digital literacy and productive computer use
- Development of essential soft skills for future academic and career success
- No prior experience in robotics, coding, or technology is required.

Term 4 Details:
Prerequisites: Students do not need prior experience in the subject of study, however, they should be able to attend class diligently and independently. Students must be able to follow the given curriculum of learning and activities provided in class and maintain good behaviour that does not affect the learning experiences of others.
NOTE: This is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) (Windows Laptop or Apple iPad) program.
Students are required to bring their own devices to class each week. Please note that if a student does not bring their device, ITRA will be unable to provide a replacement for the missed lesson.

Additional Memberships (MVPS Academy Game Students Only) – 1 Term License Minecraft Education Membership (Term License). Grade 1, 2 & 3 students will require this license. The license fee is $30 per term.

ROBOTICS ACADEMY (Grade 1 to 6)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Robotics Academy is an integrated STEM academy for students from Grades 3 to 6. Students will learn robotics, coding, technology, simple machines, CAD, 3D printing, virtual robotics and more through the year as each term has a different focus. Following Innovate Academy’s core values, students also learn and develop their teamwork, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Students may also apply to join in robotics competitions and sit for robotics certification programs if they wish to take their robotics and technology skills to a higher level.
Technology is playing an increasingly important role in every profession, foundational understanding of computer science is becoming an essential component of student learning.
With a wide range of STEM resources for robotics and technology, MVPS students are continually given the latest and most up to date tools and curriculum which Innovate Academy also provides to teachers in Australian schools and government STEM education initiatives. With the successful introduction of robotics certification programs and Digital literacy certifications, students can choose their learning track and achieve more, in preparation for their future.

Term 4, 2025 Details:

This is an Optional Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program (Windows Laptop or Apple iPad). Laptops are provided for group work. Students are highly encouraged to consider bringing their own device if possible.
