In today's technology-driven world, a strong foundation in computer science is essential. The Game Development Academy at MVPS goes beyond play — focusing on building real coding skills through game creation.

We use Minecraft Education (not the regular gaming version) — designed by Microsoft specifically for schools, with no public servers or unsafe content. It's not gaming time — it's creative learning time.

What you need to know

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

  • Each student must bring their own device — Windows laptop or Apple iPad — every week.
  • ITRA cannot provide spare devices if a student forgets theirs.
  • Missed lessons cannot be made up with a replacement device.
  • Additional Resource Fees

  • Minecraft Education 1-Term Licence: $30 per term (required for Years 1, 2 & 3).
  • Innovate Forge Digital Infrastructure: already included.
  • Prerequisites & Expectations

  • No prior coding experience required.
  • Open only to MVPS students in Year 1 to Year 6.
  • Students should attend diligently and work independently.
  • Positive behaviour is required to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Recommended Commitment

  • Minimum one-year enrolment is advised for full benefit.
  • Students may join at the start of any term — each term features unique projects.
  • Device Hire (In-Class Use Only)

    A dedicated device for your child to use during scheduled classes — fully set up and maintained by our team.

    Innovate Forge — Self-Paced Learning

    A flexible track for students who want to learn at their own pace, with structured guidance from our educators. Built on the Innovate Forge digital infrastructure — structured pathways, project portfolios, certification tracking and AI-supported practice environments.

    • 2 live mentor sessions per term — one at the start to set goals, one at the end to review progress.
    • Daily online chat support with educators, every weekday from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
    • Structured coding pathways, project portfolios and certification tracking inside the Forge platform.
    • AI-supported practice environments designed for long-term mastery.

    A goal-setting session at the start of term and a progress-review session at the end — delivered live by an Innovate educator.
