Student Behaviour & Attitude Policy
After-School Programs (Coding, Robotics, STEM, VCE Coaching)**
At Innovate Technology & Robotics Academy, we are committed to creating a safe, positive, and productive learning environment for every student. To ensure all learners can thrive, we have established the following Behaviour & Attitude Policy.
This policy applies to all students enrolled in after-school programs, including Coding, Robotics, Game Development, STEM, VCE subjects, holiday programs, and online classes.
1. Respect for Others
Students are expected to:
Treat classmates, coaches, and staff with kindness and courtesy.
Listen when others are speaking.
Use respectful language at all times.
Resolve conflicts calmly and appropriately.
Not allowed:
Disrespectful comments, teasing, bullying, put-downs, or disruptive behaviour.
2. Positive Learning Attitude
Students must:
Come prepared and ready to participate.
Try their best and stay focused during activities.
Follow instructions the first time they are given.
Ask questions and seek help respectfully.
Not allowed:
Refusing to participate, ignoring instructions, arguing with coaches, or intentionally disrupting learning.
3. Safe and Responsible Behaviour
Students must:
Use all equipment (robotics kits, laptops, electronic parts) carefully.
Move safely around the classroom at all times.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
Follow safety guidelines for robotics and tools.
Not allowed:
Running indoors, throwing items, damaging equipment, unsafe use of robotics parts, or physical roughness.
4. Digital Responsibility
Students must:
Use devices only for class activities.
Stay on approved websites/software.
Protect personal information and respect digital boundaries.
Not allowed:
Accessing games/social media, changing computer settings, messaging others, or inappropriate digital conduct.
5. Attendance & Punctuality
Students are expected to:
Arrive on time and be ready to begin.
Attend regularly unless unwell.
Inform parents/staff in advance if absent.
Late arrival and early pick-up should be communicated to staff.
6. Personal Belongings
Students must:
Take care of their personal items.
Bring only necessary items to class.
Keep food and drinks away from equipment.
No responsibility will be taken for lost/damaged items.
7. Zero-Tolerance Behaviours
The following will result in immediate intervention and possible suspension from the program:
Bullying (physical, verbal, or online)
Aggressive behaviour or threats
Intentional damage to equipment
Repeated refusal to follow instructions
Unsafe behaviour that puts others at risk
8. Behaviour Management Process
Our approach is positive, supportive, and designed to help students learn and grow.
Step 1 — Reminder & Redirection
Coach explains expected behaviour and redirects the student.
Step 2 — Warning
Clear warning and documentation if behaviour continues.
Step 3 — Temporary Removal
Student is removed from activity for a short time to reset.
Step 4 — Parent Notification
Parents will be informed if behaviour persists.
Step 5 — Suspension or Removal from Program
If a student continues to disrupt learning or safety, ongoing enrolment may be reviewed.
9. Partnership With Families
We believe families and educators work best when communicating openly.
Parents are encouraged to:
Reinforce expectations with their child
Communicate any concerns or special needs
Partner with us in supporting respectful behaviour
10. Commitment to a Positive Learning Culture
Our goal is to provide a learning environment where:
Every student feels safe
Every child can learn without distraction
Coaches can teach effectively
Students build character, respect, and responsibility
By enrolling in our programs, students and families agree to follow this policy.
