CERTIFICATION PATHWAY

Certify your knowledge of TECHNOLOGY, ROBOTICS ENGINEERING & COMPUTER SCIENCE by taking this official exam.

There is a lot of benefit towards our character development when we work on robotics projects together.

If we would be left to work things out together and learn from mistakes, unexpected situations and experiences.

Robotics was never about perfection, a perfect team or a perfect... project with no issues.

It has always been about growing together through the entire experience which contributes towards our personal growth.

Robotics learning makes one see the direct impact of their work.

Seeing those ideas come to life can be absolutely thrilling. Students report that they “feel really happy” when they see something they thought of, come to be made and then come to life.

There is something ...special when you are able to see the result of your hard work.

That is the wonderful part of childhood robotics.

Working together is never easy. Sometimes we can work well, sometimes we misunderstand each other. Maybe we miscommunicate our intentions. Perhaps we are misunderstood.

It could be we could not fully understand the project yet or sometimes our thoughts are not as quick as some others. The ...list goes on.

However, the robotics classroom is a place where all this is natural and we work through these things as they come up.

We know we can come together to talk it through and reflect. The intentions are always there everytime.

We know the robotics classroom is a place where everyone is a part of.

No matter what.

We don’t always remember what we learn but perhaps we remember being fascinated, a little apprehensive and full of wonder around a robot.

May that wonder and curiosity continue to be part of us as we continue to explore.

#robot #explore #discover #curiosity #throwback

Robotics is an exciting blend of creativity and technology.

It is a common thought that only some people can do this. However, everyone can give it a try and understand what it’s all about. Anyone really.

Robotics learning is not limited to “only some people”.

Robotics opens up our minds and makes us think more deeply about the world around us.

We also become more aware of those around us and discover ways to effectively communicate with those we work with towards tech for good.

That and more is the power of Robotics Learning.

People say these Robotics adventures are something that stays in their memory for a long time.

Perhaps we won’t remember exactly what we did in class but we will remember that we:

✅Failed and had to redo something a million times
✅Helped a friend out
✅Shared a ...couple of meals
✅Had many laughs
✅Made a couple of rants
✅Made up mind to get off robotics for good only to return to it the next minute because things needed to be done, then liking it all over again
✅Thinking of the funny moments and then smiling and laughing like it just happened
✅Overcoming all issues to emerge triumphant

What do you remember about your robotics experience?

Robotics Certification Pathway

Robotics Certification is an exam that provides official certification on your knowledge of the robotics system related electronics, programming and physical computing.

Prerequisite: Certification exams are for current ITRA students only. These modules are suitable for gifted students, students with high potential, students applying for scholarships and students who want higher learning and challenges.

The Robotics Certification Pathway (available for Robotics Academy programs)  is an Elective Module for Robotics Academy students who wish to take on higher learning to challenge themselves on their knowledge of robotics.

Based on the robotics system the students learn in their respective academy programs, students will start the pathway with a Robotics Certification Level 1 which covers an Introduction to Robotics and can choose to continue to Level 2 and Level 3 (after completing Level 1 successfully). In order to achieve the Robotics Certification, students must achieve a minimum grade of 75%. Students who have obtained grades less than 75% are allowed one re-test. Students will have to re-register if they do not achieve the 75% and higher grade during the re-test.

A full academy certification granted is when students have completed and achieved a minimum of 75% on each level (from Levels 1 to 5).

What are the benefits of the certification exams?

The certification exams available at Innovate Academy since 2016 are an elective unit for students with high potential who would like to take their robotics studies to a higher level. Level 1 starts off as an Introduction to Robotics / Coding.  The exam will be multiple choice / fill in the blank based questions based on what students have studied in Semester 1, provided notes and study / exercises materials.

Much like ICAS exams, students are required to think on the spot (good preparation and revision at home with the given notes will help) and apply their knowledge to the exam questions – good for enhancing their critical thinking skills. Many students have used these exams to further their school pathways such as application for selective school programs, SEAL programs, scholarships etc)

    Are these exams theory based?

Yes. Level 1 and Level 2 are theory based. Students who have completed up to Level 2 would have achieved the full theory certification.

    Are there any prerequisites?

Students who are currently enrolled at Innovate Academy studying  a Robotics or Computer Science or Game Design & Development Module may enroll to sit for these exams.

Your child must be a student of the academy at the time of the exam (not having left the academy).

Can my child do Level 1 and Level 2 together?

Students will have to sit for Level 1 and achieve the minimum of 75% to be able to sit for Level 2.  Innovate Academy does not permit booking of two exam levels together.

    Is the certification exam compulsory?

Absolutely not! Students are free to choose whether they would like to do it or not.

What happens after I have made the payment?

Students  will get one chance to retake the exam (included in the exam fee) if they do not achieve the minimum grade of 75% or more.

You will be sent revision notes by email or provided access to learning materials / exercises which you should hand to your child for them to study and revise. Any questions about the exams or queries about the notes or clarification about the exam should be directed to Sue or Gary ([email protected])

What happens if my child does not get the minimum of 75%?

The student will be given a chance to retake the exam on another date provided.

Students who achieve 75% and more will receive a printed and digital certificate awarded by Innovate Academy.
How long do we have to wait before the results are released?

Please allow two weeks for the academy to process the results and send them directly to your email.

Can we view the exam paper?

The exam paper is the intellectual property of Innovate Academy, therefore the paper is confidential and remains in the academy.

NOTE: You will be provided detailed feedback about how your child performed in each section.
    Can I contest the results?
We do not encourage such behaviour in the academy and are fortunate that parents look towards encouraging their children to do better and praising them for their efforts instead. With regards to contesting results, we regret that this will not be entertained in any form.
Has anyone not achieved 75% as a minimum?

Some students have not been able to achieve the minimum grade on the first try but have gone on to do well at the second attempt. At this stage, there are no students who have failed to achieve Level 1 or 2. Encourage your child to study hard and give the paper the best effort!
